Objectives
General and specific objectives of the project #
The general objective of the project is to study the theoretical and practical aspects of co-simulation of SCF and simulations with simulation/physical world interaction in the particular case of the so-called digital twins. This study should culminate in the design and development of a co-simulation solution for collaborative mobile robot projects. In particular, this general objective will be translated into a series of specific objectives:
- Study the SCF co-simulation problem.
- To study the hybrid co-simulation problems involved in solving wireless networking and robot mobility problems.
- To study the theoretical and practical implications of using digital twins.
- Develop a framework for co-simulation and digital twins to serve as a foundation for the group’s research. This objective may use existing tools as a base, but will have particular purposes oriented towards solving problems in the field of collaborative robots.
Questions that the project seeks to answer #
The project starts from the hypothesis that the use of digital twins and co-simulations will improve the planning and execution of movements of collaborative teams of mobile robots.
In that sense, we propose to answer the following questions:
- Is it possible to perform hybrid co-simulation in the context of cooperative robotics where simulated time passes tens or hundreds of times faster than real time?
- Is it possible to use co-simulation concepts to implement digital twins in collaborative robotics environments?
- What specific aspects does the use of digital twins require of a co-simulation?
